Time is a gargoyle waiting impatiently to spread its wings in the freedom of the night. Locked in my self-made corporate cage, I crave that same freedom that comes with the evening. Fanciful musings slink through my wandering mind while my body sits diligently at its desk, listening to the incessant ticking of the clock. If the walls ceased to exist, would the clock hang suspended in time, ticking disapprovingly at the recalcitrant world for wasting the commodity it so jealously guards?

Meanwhile my office-dwelling plant gazes upwards, unfurling delicate pink flowers as it worships the shrouded sun. I briefly envied the plant its freedom to stare unabashedly out the window before giving into temptation and doing likewise. Like a dozing cat steeping in sunlight, the guiltless enjoyment of a moment always brings such pleasure. My golden cockatiel must have felt the same when she snuck past her sitter and stretched her wings joyfully into Icarus’ bright shadow.

This evening will end another quiet day on the home-front. Tonight’s project will be to procure bits to make body armor. Siege weapons are the carrot dangling at the end of the string to lure me towards completion…

Deposited at home after Pennsic, I became the Goddess of Laundry and Other Smelly Affairs when he ditched me in favor of the Harley. Three days later the inner fire is still burning bright, but the fuel is suspect...
